VIP Mod Server Plugin - Installation

 

The VIP Mod server plugin enables the assassination style game play from Counter-Strike in the Counter-Strike: Source environment.

 

Installing the plugin:

 

1.

Download and install MetaMod:Source. MetaMod:Source is available at SourceMM.net with full instructions for installation.

 

2.

Start the server and type meta. If you receive an error because the command is unknown, go back to Step 1.

 

3.

Unzip the files/folders from the cstrike folder in the zip package to the cstrike folder on your server. If you use a sv_downloadurl for fast downloading, upload everything except the cstrike/addons directory to your sv_downloadurl web server.

 

4.

Open cstrike/addons/metamod/metaplugins.ini and add the following line:

 

    addons/vip_mm/bin/vip_mm

 

5.

Start your server and type meta list at the console. You should see something like this:

meta list
-Id-   Name      Version    Author     Status
[01]   VIP mod   1.0        L. Duke    RUN

 

If you see ERROR or FAIL instead of VIP mod, the plugin didn't load. Check your server logs to determine what the error was.

 

If you see NO FILE instead of VIP mod, either your path and filename may be setup wrong in metaplugins.ini or the plugin has been copied to the wrong location.

 

6.

To test the operation of the plugin, start a server and change the map to as_test. You will need to either add a bot or kill yourself once before the plugin will start.

 

7.

VIP Plugin cvars:

  • vip_version (read only) displays the version number

  • vip_t_sniper_awp 1/0 (default 1) 1 use awp, 0 use scout (allows terrorists to have a sniper weapon on no AWP servers)

  • vip_escapezone minX minY minZ maxX maxY maxZ (for mappers) sets the coordinates of the escape zone

  • vip_escapezone2 minX minY minZ maxX maxY maxZ (for mappers) sets the coordinates of the second escape zone

  • vip_teleport X Y Z (for mappers) sets the coordinates to teleport the VIP to when he escapes

 
8. If the server has fast downloads enabled via sv_downloadurl, you'll need to upload the maps, sound, materials and models folders (along with their contents) to your fast download web server.
9. Download the official VIP Mod maps from vipmod.punkassfraggers.com

10.

Sign up for the VIP plugin mailing list. You will only receive email when the VIP plugin is updated or a Valve update requires a configuration change.  (Historically, most updates haven't required a fix, except for Valve's July model changes.)
