This document will explain how to get the FOV3 Mod Installer working properly on your PC. The majority of installations, the installer will work without a problem. But unluckily, as you are reading this there is some unexpected problem on your PC which is causing the installer to fail.
Due to the crash of the FOJ server in October, you can find some of the FOV3
Problems & Solutions thread at this location:

Supported operating systems (these work): Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows Vista.
Unsupported operating systems (these exhibit problems): Windows 98, Windows ME, and 64-bit version of Windows (1).
(1). On Windows 64-bit versions, the Installer fails to run. But, if you
install it on a 32-bit operating system, you can transfer the FlatOut 1 game
folder with the FOV3 mod back onto the 64-bit version of Windows. The game
will run perfectly on there.
The FOV3 Installer will always create a log file during the installation of the mod, you can find the log file at this default location:
"C:\Program
Files\FlatOut Joint\FlatOut - FOV3 Installer\FOV3InstallLog.txt"
If you do not want to read through every problem and solution, by doing the below steps would fix around 95% of the problems reported.
- Copy the 3 files "FOV3Installer.exe", "UnRAR.exe", and "Register_Files.bat" inside the zip file into the FOV3 Installer folder, this would usually be by default at: "C:\Program Files\FlatOut Joint\FlatOut - FOV3 Installer\". Make sure you Overwrite the files.
- Run the "Register_Files.bat" file. A black screen will appear then disappear.
- Re-run the FOV3 Installer via the shortcut, or via the EXE.
- The FOV3 installation can take 15 to 60 minutes, depending on people's PCs.
Hopefully, you should now be able to run your FlatOut game with the FOV3 mod.
If you still have problems, look at the other problems below:
>> One person reported this problem in which the movies failed to load. This was unrelated to the FOV3, the person had installed the "Nimo Codec Pack", which somehow disrupted the FlatOut game movie playback. The solution was to uninstall it, and FlatOut worked correctly.
>> The problem is to do with either one of two files not being registered correctly in your Windows system. Inside the service pack files there is a file called "Register_Files.bat". Just double click on that, it will register the 2 files, and re-run the launcher.
>> Very odd problem in which the RAR Unpacker program fails to unpack the original BFS files. Inside the service pack files there is a new "UnRAR.exe" file. Just copy it into the FOV3 Installer folder, and overwrite the existing file.
>> During the installation, the BFS files just grow and grow, making a huge FlatOut game folder. One of the reasons was due to using an unsupported O.S, the other is to do with the installer. Inside the service pack files there is a new "FOV3Installer.exe" file. Just copy it into the FOV3 Installer folder, and overwrite the existing file.
>> Some people have reported an issue to do with the "AutoExec.nt" file or a 16-bit DOS error message when running the installer. Inside the service pack files there is a new "FOV3Installer.exe" file. Just copy it into the FOV3 Installer folder, and overwrite the existing file.
>> If none of the other fixes work, try the following:
- Make sure you've got Administrator rights on your PC to conduct the FOV3
Install.
- Make sure that the Windows O.S. you are using is the supported one.
- Do NOT copy your old FlatOut 1 game profile across, this will not work with
the FOV3 mod. A new profile needs to be made.
- Re-install your FOV3 mod, to see if it makes a difference.
- Make sure you've got sufficient disk space, although the Installer will warn
you prior to installing.
- If nothing works, last desperate measure would be to reinstall your Windows
O.S.
