WFA RECENT CHANGES

This document describes the changes made in WFA since its official release on July 25, 2000.  Please take the time to glance through the latest changes- there are some great new features in WFA that you'll miss otherwise!  As always, our earnest thanks to all of the people that continue to post bugs and suggestions on the WFA forums- keep them coming, folks!

New Features:

Two new features have been added to WFA that are the direct result of suggestions made by WFA players in the WFA Suggestions Forum. 

First, the Engineer's Magnotron now has an increased radius and will disengage the grapple of an enemy caught in its pull, but it no longer does any damage.   The Magnotron is only useful now as a tool to slow down and immobolize an attacker- the engineer will have to rely on his sentry gun, his other weapons, or his teammates to deal damage.

Second, Nurses, when killed, now drop an antidote syringe that will cure disease and give 50 health.  So, next time you get infected and there's not a Nurse on your team, there's still hope!  Nail the nurse that diseased you and you'll be cured!

We continue to improve WFA visually with every release.  In 1.1, the Shotgun and Hyperblaster models have been replace with some fantastic new work by our modeling team.  We think you'll be pleased with the results.

Finally, 1.1 includes 4 new announcer sounds by Xian of Id Software that replace the "Flag captured" and "Flag stolen" sounds in WFA.  If the voice sounds familiar, don't be surprised!  Xian is responsible for all of the announcer voices in Quake III Arena.

New Features:

The WFA Sniper now has a variable zoom scope that allows him to zoom to a precise magnificatiion.  To use the new zoom, you must have the Sniper Rifle as your current weapon and you must use a key bound to +button3.  Note that the standard Quake 3 +zoom command is still available.  There are several variables related to the new zoom, listed below.

cg_fov 90 Your nomal fov setting
cg_zoomfov 10 How far you zoom in (min 10)
cg_zoomfast 0 If set to 1, sniper rifle uses standard Q3 zoom
cg_zoomspeed 195 Sets the speed of the new sniper zoom (min 50 max 200)

In 1.0 the Arsonist now has a napalm mine, which acts like the Marine's proximity grenade but sets its victim on fire as well.

WFA 1.0 contains a number of visual improvements to the mod.  The uzi, dartgun, detpipe, and turret grenade have new skins, and the proximity mine has a new model and skin.

Finally, two new announcer sounds have been added to WFA:  "Overtime" and "Headshot", thanks to Xian of Id Software.
