COMMAND STRUCTURE

Like all starbases, Starbase 11 is commanded by an officer with the rank of Commodore. An officer posted to this position can bring his own administrative staff with him, and can fill key positions with personnel of his own choosing. His tour of duty can last from several months to several years. In mid-2267, Commodore Aaron Stone's tour of duty at Starbase 11 came to an end, and he was replaced by Commodore Jose I. Mendez.

In addition to the base commander's administrative staff, there is a command staff which consists of several high-ranking officers who run each of the base's prinicipal departments.

Base Commander(rank of Commodore, Command Division)

Chief of Operations, Base Defenses (rank of Captain, Command Division, in charge of Building 8 Base Defenses)

Portmaster (rank of Captain or Commander, Engineering Division, in charge of Building 2 Port Facilities)

Chief Engineer (rank of Captain or Commander, Engineering Division, in charge of Building 7 Power Plant)

Chief Medical Officer (rank of Commander or Lt. Commander, Science Division, in charge of Building 5 Medical Center)

Chief Science Officer (rank of Commander or Lt. Commander, Science Division, in charge of Building 9 Sciences Complex)

Chief of Operations, Orbital Facility (rank of Captain, Engineering Division)
Dockmaster, Drydock 1 (rank of Commander or Lt. Commander, Engineering Division)
Dockmaster, Drydock 2 (rank of Commander or Lt. Commander, Engineering Division)
Dockmaster, Drydock 3 (rank of Commander or Lt. Commander, Engineering Division)
Dockmaster, Drydock 4 (rank of Commander or Lt. Commander, Engineering Division)
Dockmaster, Drydock 5 (rank of Commander or Lt. Commander, Engineering Division)
Dockmaster, Drydock 6 (rank of Commander or Lt. Commander, Engineering Division)
Dockmaster, Drydock 7 (rank of Commander or Lt. Commander, Engineering Division)

Serving under each of these department heads are officers, enlisted, and technicians.

There are also a number of civilians at the starbase. Some of these own and operate shops and restaurants, while others are employed by the companies headquartered at Building 4.

The average number of personnel residing and working at the starbase, including officers, enlisted, technicians, and civilians, is usually around 3000.

EXPLORING STARBASE 11

Starbase 11 is large and covers several square miles of territory. It is, in fact, a small city. More than a military base, it is a community where people live, work, and play.

All of the main buildings and areas are accessible from turbolifts and transporter booths in the Underground Concourse. The concourse serves as a hub from which you can travel to and from these buildings and areas. In addition, some areas are accessible only from individual buildings. For example, the Milky Way Dance Club is reached from a transporter in Building 6, and the drydocks are reached via transporter from the Orbital Facility.

Each building has multiple floors which can be explored. Some areas are not immediately visible, or are accessible only by transporter, so be sure to try all doors and transporter booths you come across.

When you are finished touring a building or area, you can return to the Underground Concourse via turbolift or transporter booth. Lifts and booths which return you to the concourse are identified by signs or by messages that will appear on your screen.

Turbolifts are activated by stepping into them and pressing your use key.

The trams in the Underground Concourse are activated by stepping into them, going to the control console at the front and pressing your use key.

Various control consoles and panels throughout the base are activated by stepping up to them and pressing your use key. Additionally, intercoms, bathroom sinks, and some of the food dispensers are activated simply by stepping up to them.

Since this mod is a museum exhibit, people you encounter throughout the base are decorative and will be frozen in the middle of some activity. However, you will see animated characters in the holographic videos, and you will experience full action in the holographic combat simulations.

Be sure to adjust your sound effects and music volumes to equal levels, and adjust your game's brightness as necessary to balance light and dark areas. If the gamma is too high, lower EF's brightness setting.
