Walthrough for Mayhem

NOTE: There are two gravity switches in the level, which allow you to change it from normal, to high, to low gravity. Many explanations refer to this.

This is the walkthough for my new map, Mayhem. Ok, it isn't exactly a "walkthrough", more like hints on things to do and tricks for getting powerups. It includes a bunch o' screenshots so that you have something visual to help you understand what I'm saying. Ready? Let's get started!

Layout

This is an overhead view of the entire map, illustrating the positions of important powerups and other things.

NOTE: You are probably wondering how the heck you are going to get that rail detonator - answer: you teleport!

Concussion Rifle:

Here is the explanation of the best way to get the concussion rifle. No ways are easy (which is how I wanted it to be), but certain tricks will help you get there. Don't give up, because you'll eventually get really good at it! By the way, getting the concussion rifle is pretty near impossible on high gravity, and IS impossible without force, so don't even try.

Normal Gravity: Believe it or not, this is the easiest way to get the conc. Make sure you are in third person view, and make a running leap to the first patch of gray. Try to jump as close as possible to the red floor, without hitting it (it will kill you in one hit, as you have probably found out by now). Don't stop, as you'll need your momentum. Leap again, immediatley. Immediatley after that, leap yet again. There you are! Just make sure you do NOT lose momentum, as it is key to success. Jump through the yellow field to your left to teleport back to the walkay.

Low Gravity: This is just a tad bit harder. Don't try to make any flying leaps all the way across - you'll hit the ceiling and get your self killed. Instead, go slow and easy to the first patch, carefully controlling your jump. Back up to the beginning of that patch, then run and jump to the next. Then jump to the concussion rifle - you did it! By the way, you'll probably always hit the ceiling - the slowness of your jump is what will save you.

Rail Detonator:

This is an easy one - just go to the teleporter hub - the teleporter on the wall straight ahead of the entrance to the hub takes you to the rail detonator's own personal room. In that room is another teleporter that plunks you down in the middle of a walkway in the center room.

Super Shield:

This is fairly difficult. You can do this several different ways (on low gravity or normal gravity - the latter requires force), but I prefer to do it this way. Go to the walkway looking down on the central room, making sure that the gravity is set on low. Make a regular jump out over the pit, carefully controlling your momentum - snatch the super shield, and move forward to land on the walkway. It's not as hard as it sounds, so give it a shot! And yes, I did manage to grab the super shield AND survive.

Force Surges

These are pretty easy to get. Go out into the canyon, and look around on the walls. You should see a little hole. Back up, and force jump into the hole from farther back (this'll be easier than jumping right next to the wall). Jump in there, and you'll be greeted by two handy powerups!

Revive

This is a bit trickier - find the other hole in the wall (it's above the beginning of the stream), and stand to the left of the stream facing it - run towards it, and time your force jump correctly - with enough practice, it'll be simple to get that revive.

Gravity Controls

It sure can be fun to screw people up with gravity! Just pressing the switch at random will mess people's jumps up - especially people who are trying to get the super shield!

Teleporter Hub

This is a fun little convention I made - there are 5 teleporters in the hub not including the rail detonator one. There are consoles next to each teleporter - they bring up a camera view of the general area where you will be teleporting. Use them to determine whether you want to go there! NOTE: Don't try to toggle them - the camera view on each lasts for exactly 2.75 seconds.

Sniping Spot

Duck down right here and shoot through the rails - you have a great view of the walkways, and you are partially protected from gunfire - non-explosive weapons might hit the railing instead of you. You can also stand up and lob thermal detonators out onto the walkways.

There's a few more things I didn't have time to cover in this walkthrough, but I'm sure you'll figure them out yourself. Happy fragging!
