TITLE: Lopar-XL v1.2 FILE NAME: LoparXL2K4VP12.ZIP RELEASE DATE: April 14, 2004 AUTHOR: Lopar E-MAIL: lopar_xl@yahoo.com WEB SITE: http://www.nationnarrownet.com/ SOFTWARE USED: GoldWave v4.26 and v5.06, Sound Recorder, UED v3.0 |
INTRODUCTION
This my "official" voice pack. I've been working on this for, oh, about two years or so. This pack is based on the Juggernaut voice and is for male character models/.UPL entries. I'll be release versions for both the original UT and UT2004, but not UT2K3 because I'm sick and tired of its lousy lack support for user-and bot model customization in-game, especially in regards to voice packs. I actually started working on this with '2K3, and was almost completed, but I'm glad I got a hold of Unreal Tourney 2004 Special Edition on DVD (boo-yah!). You may notice some inconsistancies in the audio files. This happened when I upgraded to a Sound Blaster Audigy ZS from my old Live! version and for some reason my .WAVs get all hissy when I record them in a low resolution format (8-bit mono @ 11KHz). I had to do some roundabout wizardry with GoldWave in order to make them fairly clear. This didn't happen with my old sound card. Go figure. The problem with the volume being too low has been solved in this version 1.2 by increasing the TransientSoundVolume property in the Default Properties window from 0.30 to 0.75.
Samples: [1], [2].
Version History:
v1.2, 13-APR-2004 |
* Boosted the TransietSoundVolume up to 0.75. This should make the the voice more audible above the sounds of gunfire and explosions. * Added an XPlayers.INT entry that enables this character to be used in single player games. * Changed the player model from Frostbite to Riker. * Changed the .UTX portrait. |
|
|
v1.1, 25-MAR-2004 |
* Rolled back the pack to the '2K3 version to start over. Fixed a bug where the VP wouldn't show up in the voice menu. * Version 1.1 is basicly the same as 1.0 but it should actually work correctly in the game. Nothing new was added. |
|
|
v1.0, 22-MAR-2004 | * Original release version of the voice pack. |

CREDITS
Thanks go out to LORD KROM for sorting out the whole VP implementation issue for '2K4 and FBMachine for providing the tip on raising the volume in the voice pack Default Properties. Thank you Rainecloud for "The Definitive Voicepack Tutorial For UNREALED 2.0. (Revised Version)", Areala and [ZDB]Stoerenfried for their UT voice pack tweaking guide (both guides found here) and Fraggin_Phun for the tutorial on how to make VPs for UT2003. I find UnrealEd to be daunting and these tutorials made it very simple to make the voice pack. Additional grattitude goes go to Ron "JaFO" Dautzenberg for his UT bot managing utilities, a big help with making "push content" files for my voice packs, to jlove, Kissamies, MarciKun and anyone else who playtested my VP and gave feedback. I'd also like to thank the folks at GoldWave and CyberLink for making some awesome sound editing and DVD player software.
