Installation
Minions of Destruction requires UT version 4.13 to play.
Download the "MoD.zip" from the Files page. Once downloaded, open the zip file up or unzip the "MoDv20.umod" file. Then simply double-click on the "MoDv20.umod" to install Minions of Destruction.
Alternatively, for those of you who either dislike umod files or simply can not get them to work on your computer, then try downloading the "MoDNonMod.zip" file from the Files page and installing the game manually.

Other Mutators
This game has not been rigoursly tested, as of yet, with mutators, including the standard Unreal Tournament mutators. Due to the complex nature of the game and that it really includes many mutators inside of it already, Minions of Destruction frankly works best WITHOUT other mutators. However, certain mutators such as SpawnGuards, etc. you might find useful. Mutators such as Inflitrator [which is an awesome mutator(s)], Cosmic, Dark Magic, etc. generally go against the feel and spirit of Minions of Destruction and should not be used. Check out the list of mutators that should work well with Minions of Destruction. This list will get updated as more mutators get tested or as I get feedback from the users.

Starting and Configuring
Minions of Destruction has both User and Server configuration options.
User configuration appears in to seperate areas, the first is the MoD User Options menu which can be accessed from UnrealTournament's Mod menu system. User configuration also is available in Minions of Destruction section of UnrealTournament's Options->Preferences->Controls menu.

To use the Server configuration, you need to start a game either as a Practice session, Game->Start Practice Session, or as a multiplayer game, Multiplayer->Start New Multiplayer Game. Minions of Destruction will be listed under the Game Type section of the Match tab. Under the Rules tab is a Minions of Destruction Additional Rules button that allows the configuration of the following Minions of Destruction Rules: General, MINION!, Weapons and Scoring tabs.

Bots
Bots. Bots. And more Bots. The bots in Minions of Destruction know the basic rules and will try and act accordingly. However, they do not quite understand all the ins and outs of the various scoring systems in the game. Its the multiple scoring system that presents the biggest problem with having the bots understand and fully exploit the rules. Hopefully as future version of Minions of Destruction are made available, the bots will get better at the various modes of play.

Supported Player and Bot Models
Minions of Destruction supports the following Unreal Tournament player/bot models from Unreal Tournament and the Bonus Pack:
  • Boss
  • Female Commando
  • Female Solider
  • Male Commando
  • Male Solider
  • Nali
  • Skaarj Trooper
The Nali WarCow is not supported as it does not really fit the into the Minions of Destruction concept nor are any models converted from Q2 at this time. Any player or bot using an unsupported model will join the game as a generic male commando model.

Minions of Destruction supports the following MoDPlayer plugins, community made player models:

  • Guardian
  • Marine
  • Riot Girl
  • Rumiko
  • Troop
Additional community made player models packs may be introduced at a later date. Also, see the documentation included with the various Minions of Destruction zip packs on creating your own MoDPlayer plugin packs.
Server Admin Notes
Minions of Destruction can be a bandwidth and server intensive game do to the high numbers of explosions and weapons fire, especially as you increase the number of MINIONS! in the game. Rough estimate is somewhere between 110% to 150% of the bandwdith necessary for other Unreal Tournament gametypes. In otherwords, if you can host a max of 16 players with regular Unreal Tournament gametype, you should be able to comfortably host 12 with Minions of Destruction. I highly recommend setting your server's MaxClientRate to ~5000.
